Escentric 02 100ml focuses on the elusive power of Ambroxan (13.5%), a sensual amber molecule with an almost mineral smoothness, alongside the aphrodisiac notes of green jasmine bud and a fizzy "gin and tonic" accord, a dash of Almdudler and "that specific scent you get when you unwrap a new Apple laptop."
Ambroxan has a crystalline chemical structure identical to ambrox, derived from ambergris. For centuries, ambergris was one of the most prized ingredients in perfumery. It is a somewhat mysterious substance discharged by the sperm whale, which only reaches its fine scent after long maturation at sea.
Ambergris is rare nowadays, and the "amber" in a modern fragrance will be a lab-created equivalent of some of the aromatic molecules that make up its scent. The best of these by far is the nature-identical molecule Ambroxan, synthesized from plant-sourced materials by Firmenich chemists in 1950.
Different in tone from other animal ingredients, ambergris has always been prized for its refinement and sensuality. These qualities persist in Ambroxan.
